Get around Temecula with ease through a free trolley. From heading to local events to the Promenade mall, it’s a convenient way to travel. 

Enjoy this free trolley that stops every 15 minutes and rarely has much of a wait. Hop on between 6:30-8 a.m. and 2:30-4:15 p.m. 

2. Peltzer Pumpkin Farm

In the fall, pick your own pumpkins! To enter, it’s only $2 per person during the week and $3 on the weekend.

Head to the Dripping Springs Trail. Take in the view of the Agua Tibia Wilderness. You’ll be near Palomar Mountain, too. 

Keep in mind that it takes about eight hours to complete. Plan ahead and bring snacks, water, and other essentials

After a long day, you can head to the Dripping Springs Campground. It’s best to go for a hike here in the non-summer months because it can reach into the triple digits in the summer. Spring and fall are popular months because of wildflowers and colorful foliage. 

8. Relax With Alpacas

Children and adults alike love The Alpaca Hacienda. Make an appointment Monday through Saturday and hand-feed an alpaca. Don’t miss the Alpaca 101 tour to learn facts about alpacas.

Afterward, head to The Alpaca Shoppe to find items made from alpaca fleece, including toys, gloves, scarves, and hats. 

For a more personal experience, book a private family and friend tour. It’ll start with a presentation and then you’ll meet the alpacas. Tours last about an hour to an hour and a half. 

They can provide tables and chairs for a small fee if you’d like to have lunch at the park. Tours are available Wednesdays through Sundays. 

9. Vail Lake Fishing and Camping

Mountain bike, hike, or fish at Vail Lake. Enjoy live entertainment, cocktails, and various trails at the Vail Lake Resort. 

Take a cruise on the lake, make s’mores by the campfire, or check out the aerial adventure course. Book your glamping or camping spot in advance. RV sites are available too. 

10. The Santa Rosa Plateau

Experience a glimpse of the history and ecological systems of the area at The Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. Take a day-hike to see the Moreno and Machado Adobes, the two oldest standing structures in Riverside County. Horseback riding and mountain biking are permitted in Sylvan Meadows Multi-Use Area.

12. The Temecula Scavenger Hunt

Head to the Temecula Visitor Center with the family for a Temecula Scavenger Hunt kit.

It’s filled with challenges and clues to solve throughout the city. You’ll also get to stop at some of the fascinating places in the city.

15. The Sugarplum Zoo
