Skin Rejuvenation
It's never too late to turn back the hands of time
What is skin rejuvenation?
To “rejuvenate” means to “restore to a youthful vigor and appearance”. There are many ways to do this. Chances are that you have tried a number of “lotions and potions” that you can find on a makeup counter. They are okay up to a point. But there is no doubt that if you are serious about turning back the clock, it’s time for some intensive medical advice. The treatments you can find at a doctor’s office often cannot be found anywhere else. Because the treatments have higher effectiveness, they should be done under a doctor’s supervision.
Medically supervised Skin Rejuvenation offers treatment for each of the problems of lackluster skin:
- For wrinkles: Medical Skin Care, Microdermabrasion, Fillers, Botox, Chemical Peels
- For sagging: Medical Skin Care, Microdermabrasion, Fillers, Chemical Peels, Surgery
- For coarse texture and large pores: Medical Skin Care, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels
- For sun and age spots: Medical Skin Care, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels
What are the benefits of skin rejuvenation?
There are many benefits to skin rejuvenation. You will replace aging skin with skin that has:
- Less wrinkles
- Firmness
- Glow
- Less dark spots
How much does skin rejuvenation cost?
Because every individual’s skin rejuvenation program is customized by our professionals, the cost will vary from person to person. After your consultation, our office will give you an estimate of the cost. If you have any questions on pricing of specific treatments, please call our office at 951-699-9201. We will be happy to help you.
How is the procedure performed?
Depending on which treatments you choose, your procedure will vary.
The path toward true Skin Rejuvenation will always begin with the most effective, daily medical skin care. This sets the foundation for truly healthy skin. The skin care regimen allows you to gradually firm up the tissue, smooth fine lines and fade dark spots. Your commitment is necessary. Your skin did not get to where it is today just overnight. It is the accumulation of years. Likewise, we cannot turn back the clock overnight. It may take several weeks to see the improvement but you will see the difference if you faithfully follow the regimen. You skin will begin repairing itself from the inside out and give you clearer, more glowing skin.
Microdermabrasion reinforces the benefits of medical skin care by accelerating the sloughing of your outer skin layer, enabling the emergence of fresher, healthier skin. This step is important for everyday healthy skin.
Another basic step is a series of chemical peels. The type of chemical peel depends on your own skin and how much down time you can tolerate. The more effective the peel, the longer will be your down time but it is generally a week or less. The chemical peel is similar to the medical skin care in that it firms the tissues, smoothes fine lines and fades dark spots, but it takes it to a deeper level.
Botox and fillers are useful in making your wrinkles and folds appear smoother. Botox works on relaxing the muscles that cause creases between your eyebrows (the “11’s”), crow’s feet and forehead. Fillers, such as Juvederm, are ideal for the nasolabial folds (the “parentheses” around your mouth), lips and lip lines. Botox and fillers work hand-in-hand to provide a more youthful look.
Surgery, such as a face/neck lift and eyelid lift, are indispensable in removing sagging skin. If you’ve ever stood in front of a mirror and lifted the excess skin back with your fingers, you are probably a good candidate. You will want to discuss this option with your surgeon at your consultation. Today’s advanced procedures enable faster recovery, less discomfort and a more natural appearance.
How is the recovery process?
Your recovery course depends on the type of treatments necessary to rejuvenate your skin. Microdermabrasion involves no down time at all. Medical skin care will usually leave your skin healthy and glowing very quickly. Likewise, Botox and Juvederm have very minimal downtime. A chemical peel’s recovery depends on the strength of the peel used. The recovery can vary from a minimal peeling to about a week of peeling and exfoliation.
Surgical recovery is usually easier than you might think. An eyelid lift will take a few days to recover from. A face lift may take a couple of weeks. The facial structures often heals well. You doctor will discuss with you what you can do to minimize bruising and swelling and to promote rapid recovery.
What are the common risks & complications?
It is rare to have side effects after Skin Rejuvenation and the risks depend on the specific procedure performed. In general, these procedures are well tolerated. For example, after starting medical skin care, some people may experience skin irritation but this usually decreases as the skin acclimates. You practitioner may adjust your regimen to best suit your skin. This is why medical supervision is necessary. Other procedures have different potential complications that your practitioner will review with you prior to the treatment.
Frequently asked questions
Q: I don’t want surgery. Do I have to have it?
A: Minimally invasive treatments (like chemical peels, Botox and fillers) are excellent places to start. However, there comes a time where only surgery can achieve the kind of results people are looking for. If your doctor has recommended surgery, it is because s/he feels that surgery will give you the best results. But you should never have surgery until you are ready for it, emotionally, physically and financially. Until that time, you can experience the minimally invasive treatments and see what they can do.
Q: I want minimal downtime. Are there any options I can do?
A: Yes, absolutely. There are many things we do to improve your face and skin that involve no down time (like medical skin care and microdermabrasion) or very minimal downtime (such as Botox and Juvederm). We invite you to come into our office so we can discuss these options with you and show you what skin rejuvenation can do for you.
Q: Is it ever too late to start skin rejuvenation?
A: No, definitely not. We have seen remarkable improvements in all types of skin regardless of age or sun damage. Remember that your skin is one of the first things people notice about you. We can improve that first impression with medically supervised skin rejuvenation.
