Thigh fat reduction through liposuction and thigh lift surgery

Thigh fat is a frequent trouble-spot due to genetics, hormonal factors, and lifestyle habits. While spot reduction through exercise alone is often not always effective, various cosmetic and surgical options can assist in targeting and reducing fat in this area. In this article, we will go over the two surgical options available.

Liposuction

Liposuction remains one of the most popular surgical options for removing stubborn fat deposits. This procedure involves making small incisions and using a suctioning device to extract the fat; which generally provides very immediate and noticeable results. Liposuction can be tailored to target almost any area of the body. This includes the neck, love handles, back, abdomen, chest, and even the thighs.

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift, or “thighplasty,” is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the thighs. This option is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss and have loose, sagging skin. A thigh lift can provide a smoother, firmer appearance to the thighs and improve overall leg contours.

There are several different variations of thigh lifts, including:

  1. Inner Thigh Lift (the most common option): An inner thigh lift is typically the best option for people who have sagging skin and excess fat in the inner thigh area between the groin and the inside of the knee. In most cases, the surgery is necessary due to changes in the area after losing a significant amount of weight.
  2. Mini Thigh Lift: A mini thigh lift works best for people who have a relatively small amount of excess skin and fat in the uppermost part of the inner thigh. This results in a smaller scar than a full inner thigh lift, because less skin needs to be removed.
  3. Lower body Lift:  A lower body lift achieves a full lift of the buttock and thighs as a unit. This is the most invasive option, but is generally the most suitable one for those who have lost a significant amount of weight.
